Additional clients include Delta Airlines and Rooster Teeth.

Founded in 2019, the mission of Begin Development is “Leadership development with heart” which encapsulates her unique approach to business. Malika believes leaders who invest in their employees, create clarity, and foster collaborative teams are the biggest asset a company of any kind can have to successfully carry out its vision. She works closely with clients across multiple industries including media, marketing and tech and has a special fondness for innovative start-ups that experience the excitement and pain of rapid growth.

Using her first-hand knowledge of working in-house and multiple start-ups, Malika developed customized offerings for Begin Development clients specifically targeted to drive cultural transformation that ultimately positions businesses for growth. A key offering is the COLLAB program, an 8-month leadership development program that transforms high-potential individuals into next-level leaders who drive real business impact for their organization. And, based on her research and insights into the unique challenges faced by growing companies, Malika also developed a coaching pipeline program which offers professionals at all levels in a given company a chance for one-on-one coaching with a professional coach. Additionally, Malika develops and executes regular learning and development sessions tailored to her client’s unique challenges and areas of interest, based on topics like Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Leading with a Growth Mindset, and Collaborative Team leadership.

Malika’s entrepreneurial leadership has led to a consistent year over year revenue growth of 50% from 2019 to 2020, and then again from 2020 to 2021. The Begin Development team has consistently brought on new team members to service its growing client roster, resulting in 700% employee growth from 2019 to 2022.

Malika’s passion for supporting women in leadership extends to her community as well. In 2021, she launched the Women’s Mentorship Program at her church, which supports female leaders at all stages of their personal and professional journey. She also volunteers with International Justice Mission regularly. Additionally, a highlight from the last 24 months was Malika’s trip to Costa Rica to serve with The Costa Rican Humanitarian Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to developing creative and economical solutions to a wide range of social problems in Costa Rica.

Finally, Malika believes that leadership development should be available to anyone who desires it, not just the C-Suite. As a result, she offers free, virtual workshops on a monthly basis. These workshops are open to the public and cover topics including how to best gather with purpose, developing a professional communication style, goal setting and more.
